A shocking price gap in hospital consumables has come under the Maharashtra FDA’s scanner, with one IV infusion set reportedly carrying an MRP nearly 28 times its trade procurement price.Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe highlighted findings from a survey examining the prices of commonly used medical consumables. According to the figures cited, an IV infusion set purchased at a trade price of ₹11.05 carried a printed MRP of ₹325, which is a difference of around 28 times, or a reported 2,841% markup. The survey also found major gaps in several other products.Mundhe said patients undergoing hospital treatment often have little opportunity to compare prices or question the cost of individual consumables while receiving care.
