High drama unfolded in New Delhi as Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra led an INDIA bloc protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, with opposition MPs facing police resistance and detention.The opposition had planned a march towards the Election Commission, demanding the CEC’s resignation and raising allegations over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Police barricades stopped the march, leading to a prolonged confrontation. Rahul Gandhi climbed a police barricade and Priyanka Gandhi was also detained during the protest.On the following day, opposition MPs again gathered at Jantar Mantar, with Rahul and Priyanka at the forefront. Reports said around 300 opposition MPs were expected to participate, while several lawmakers were detained as police blocked attempts to move beyond the designated protest area.The Gandhis and other opposition leaders have challenged the police action and alleged excessive force and restrictions on their right to protest.
