R Veeramani POCSO Case: All-Women SIT Formed | Police Probe Under Scrutiny | Brass Tacks

The R Veeramani POCSO case has entered a fresh phase after Tamil Nadu Police constituted a four-member, all-women Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the allegations and examine the handling of the earlier probe.The SIT, headed by Additional Commissioner of Police P.C. Thenmozhi, includes three other senior women police officers. Its formation came after scrutiny of the earlier investigation and action against police officers who handled the case.Veeramani and associates Shanthi and Mahendra Simhan were arrested in connection with the case. A Special POCSO Court had earlier rejected the police's closure report and ordered further investigation. Police are now examining evidence, the role of associates and the circumstances surrounding the earlier investigation.The case has also triggered a political dispute, with allegations of political shielding being raised and disputed.
