The Supreme Court has firmly pushed back against the demand for an immediate suspension of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, while agreeing to examine allegations of unilateral decision-making inside the Election Commission.Senior advocate Vikas Singh, appearing for the petitioner, pressed for interim action, arguing that the issue could undermine voting rights and the functioning of the election machinery. The Supreme Court, however, said it must first hear the Election Commission and examine the records rather than act solely on newspaper reports.The court also reiterated that Election Commission decisions must be taken unanimously or by majority, and indicated that if any decision is ultimately found to be contrary to law, it can be set aside.
